Quickfire Q&A with Anne!

It’s time for another Quickfire Q&A, and this time we’re meeting another hardworking powerhouse from our accounts department – Anne!

Anne loves audiobooks and has a huge heart when it comes to animals, but if you want to get to know her a little more, grab a brew and take five…

Hi Anne! For those who don’t know you, can you tell them a little bit about what you do here at A.D.?

So I am the Account Assistant here at A.D., I work part-time, but it’s a busy role as I look after our Accounts Payable and work closely with all of our suppliers to maintain our excellent supply chain.

I’ve been with the company just shy of two years, but I will say that one of the best things about working here is coming into the office and getting to work with such a lovely team. They’re a great group of people.

What was your first job?

My first full-time job was as a Financial Secretary, which set me on the path to a lifetime in Accounts. Before that, I had quite a few part-time jobs as a student, from bar work to telesales.

The former was great fun, but the latter wasn’t great; I was terrible at it!

What energises you at work?

I am always driven to do my best, and it’s great to be able to do that with like-minded people.

What led you to your career?

I got into accounting by accident after the Financial Secretary role – it didn’t really involve much typing!

If you could have a dream job other than working at A.D., what would it be?

My dream job would probably be running my own small farm or stables.

What’s your guilty pleasure TV?

Love Island, compulsive trash!

Best movie?

There are so many good movies, so rather than just pick one, here are a few of my favourites…

  • Fantasy – The Hobbit trilogy
  • Drama – The Shawshank Redemption
  • Sci fi – Aliens
  • Romance – Dirty Dancing

Best TV?

Same with TV, I can’t choose one, so the best TV would have to be a good drama series like ‘Line of Duty’, ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Peaky Blinders’.

If it is well made, then it can be historical through to fantasy, and I’m in!

Also, you can’t beat a great comedy series, like Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers, The Royle Family, Phoenix Nights, I’m Alan Partridge, The Office, and so many more – the list is actually quite big!

Top 3 book recommendations?

I do love reading, I think my top three would be:

  1. The Silent Patient
  2. The Reluctant Fundamentalist
  3. All the Harry Potter books. If you liked the films, then read the books as they are much better!

More recently, I have started listening to Audible when walking the dogs, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Anything read by Stephen Fry or Nicola Walkman is always a good listen.

Stephen Fry’s Sherlock Holmes covers all of Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories and is great, even after 72 hours! Ha ha!

Best band?

As a teenager in Manchester in the 1990s, it could only be Oasis!

Though I am also a lifelong Take That fan, ever since seeing them at their first major gig at the Apollo Manchester when I was 16.

Best gig?

Best gig: Michael Jackson on his Dangerous World Tour (a long time ago) at the Sheffield arena. It was spectacular.

The best festival would have to be Glastonbury.

Top 3 acts you’d love to see live

Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Elvis –in Las Vegas!

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably Curry!

Top 3 words your family would use to describe you?

Mum would probably say kind and selfless, but according to my daughter,  funny.

Best holiday destination?

The best holiday destination would be somewhere hot, like the Maldives, in a beach hut on stilts. Beautiful!

What would the title of your autobiography be?

“It all adds up”

Tell us a fun fact that people may not know about you…

I am a Capricorn.

Not sure if it really counts as a fun fact, but it is true!

Thanks Anne! Great Audible recommendations!
